Closest Airport to Negril Jamaica
The closest airport to Negril Jamaica is Montego Bay Airport (Donald Sangster Int'l Airport). Negril is 50 miles to the West and about a 1 1/4-1 1/2 hours drive.
The 2nd closest airport to Negril Jamaica is Norman Manley Airport in Kingston. Kingston to Negril is about a 150 mile drive, on the opposite end of the Island and a much longer drive.
Once you deplane, you will be directed through the arrivals area, to show your papers, pick up your luggage and clear customs. If you don't have any gifts to claim, you can use the fastest line out. Once you exit the customs area and while still inside the airport, you can find shuttles and car rentals.
A large group of taxi drivers will be waiting outside outside!

Once you arrive in Montego Bay Airport, the nearest airport to Negril Jamaica, you will have choice of transfer via shuttle (share the ride), a private taxi or renting a car.
If you are willing to share the ride, (2 hours and a few stops at hotels along the way) a shuttle will be the most cost effective -- about $20-25 per person one-way. (Shuttles are located in the airport just as your exit customs area).
A private taxi is the quickest way (1 hr 15 min) and approximately $100-130USD one way. As soon as you exit customs, make your way outside thru automatic doors and you will see a large group of taxi drivers ready to take you to Negril.
Renting a Car in Negril Jamaica
As far as arranging car rental Jamaica, driving is on the left-hand side of the road. If driving on the left is new for you, then this might be a bit tricky the first time. Drivers in Jamaica drive fast and are somewhat unforgiving! Lots of horns beeping (to say hi, get out of my way, watch out-here I come, etc.) Car rental companies are also inside the airport just as you exit customs. It has been my experience that booking ahead of time, will always save money over waiting until you arrive to arrange a car. Another option is arranging a car rental Negril for a day or two, as ou might not need it every day.
